Don't get us wrong, we can do both -- but if an occasion is special enough to make you want to save it forever, why risk losing it with phony poses and staged scenery?

We think you, your family celebrations, your friends and your true loves are beautiful, and any images that represent thesemilestones should illustrate the pure joy in these moments. In fact, the wife part of this husband-and-wife team will no doubt disarm you with her gentleness and charm while the husband part loosens you up with his cynical witticisms so that before you know it, you've got a miasma of artful photographs so achingly beautiful it will make your heart break like an egg. In fact, that is our hope here at Our Labor of Love Photography Studio, to break open everyone's heart, because a closed heart is not photogenic.

But if you like the other kind of photographs, with the stilted posturing and the portraits where the subject looks as authentic as a big breast implant, we can do that, too, I guess. We're incredibly agreeable, but we'll probably try to talk you into loosening up.

we can't say enough about this sweet, heart-warming, and incredibly fun new york bat mitzvah. olivia and her family sure know how to throw a party, especially when working with such an awesome event space like skylight west. the smilebooth was packed the whole night and filled with some pretty crazy photos. thanks so much olivia for sharing your special day with us! we had a blast...

here are the winning ideas:
from "FREDO" I think a free-form contest, where folks can submit anything that will inspire or palm springs related (pictures, songs, poems, essays, etc.) will get the most submissions.

and from "WHITNEY" (no, not our whitney!) since it's a joint project with OLOL...it should be a photo contest based on things people love: dance, outdoors, people, etc. Most creative and expressive wins!

so here is the plan... we have combined these two ideas and come up with the contest for next month (sunday july 25th) submit anything inspired by the flashdance our labor of love max etc / the ace hotel / palm springs & you by creating a piece of art (collage, video, audio, poem, dance moves, etc but somehow incorporating photography) and posting it to your blog / site / etc and post your link in the comments below. the submission(s) that most cleverly and completely express those three elements will win a free night in a king patio fireplace room at the ace hotel in palm springs sunday july 25th.
