This weekend, exactly 6 years after our first kiss, we will say, "I Do," and kiss on the beach in Florida in front of all our favorite people.
We couldn't be more happy. |

| Bring it on, 2012! |

We are thrilled for 2012!
It's already started off with a bang with a completely sold-out fine-art show in New York City (that got some press in CNN and PDN ), Kendrick turned 29 a week after a weeklong shoot in windy, rural North Dakota for a favorite magazine client, and David's actually out on a shoot for US News & World Report today. We're busy, busy, busy.
What's most exciting? We're getting married this year! I'm guessing you might be getting married soon, too, if you're on our blog, so congratulations! We think 2012 is probably the absolute best year to get married ;-)
So, as our calendars fill up with weddings, roadtrips, national magazine shoots, bachelorette parties, engagement parties, engagement shoots, family time, adventures, let us know if you have any questions. We're pretty much experts on weddings at this point after photographing so many beautiful weddings and now we can share our own advice on the ins and outs of planning your own perfect wedding.
We hope this year is a wonderful one for you!
Best,
Kendrick + David |

| we are blessed. |

Last year, we traveled a lot (New Orleans, rural Virginia, across Ireland, Austin, upstate New York, Phoenix, rural Kansas, Vegas, Raleigh, a dozen other places). This year, we've exceeded those miles and then some.
We just returned from a 10-day trip through the rural West in an RV with three other editorial photographers for an ongoing book project on small town America. With countless hours in airplanes and RVs and cars taking us from shoot a for TIME Magazine, to personal work, weddings, engagement shoots and more, we know we are blessed. A camera is really just a tool to make connections and we're making them. This is all to say, we feel so grateful for these adventures and for people letting us into their lives every single day. Whether it's a tee ball game or a goat farm in a town of 244 in rural Wyoming, a wedding in the Blueridge Mountains, a stolen kiss of ours in Yellowstone or on the beach in Grand Cayman, a demolition derby and a baptism in the rural West, every person we meet thanks to this tool we place up to our eyes is important and you all shape our lives in such interesting ways.
|

We're reminded again of how important photography is when we got an email from a recent bride today who tells us her grandfather, who was smiling at her wedding not a month ago, has passed away.
Photos are how we hold on to our most important memories.
Thank you for sharing them with us. |
By the way, we're starting to plan 2012 already. We've got our own wedding in May and we're booking weddings for next spring and early summer already, as well as planning other photo adventures. 2011 will be hard to top, but so was 2010...

since i'm so excited about this and you all are planning weddings or celebrating your own, i wanted to share this. david and i are art lovers (obviously) so we wanted something unique and beautiful for our wedding invitations. i recently and happily stumbled upon the amazing work of carne griffiths and was immediately stunned. i thought it might be going out on a limb but worth asking, so i asked him if he could design a unique piece with his beautiful style that incorporated david and i to honor our wedding. he surprised me and said yes and was excited to work on it and he was an amaaaazing pleasure to work with.
if you're looking for something unique to hang on your wall, to use as an unforgettable save the date, carne is available for commissions and sales of his work. i highly highly recommend exploring his site because i think his style and vision is so beautiful and i'm sure you'll agree.
so not only do we get a piece to hang on our wall and to send to our loved ones announcing our marriage, but we also get to support an amazing artist. win, win, win, win!
thanks for letting me brag for a minute ;-)
you can see his work here: http://www.carnegriffiths.com
and contact him here: carne@carnegriffiths.com
enjoy!
